After more than 45 years as a dominant and often a controversial figure in the political limelight in France, President Jacques Chirac has announced his retirement from active politics. The 74-year-old French leader who has been president since 1995 said he would continue to fight for justice and peace. Mr. Chirac was docked by corruption scandals during his time in office, but Presidential Immunity ensured he was never prosecuted. Lawyer Pierfswan De Ville hopes that now he stepped down, he will be brought to justice. For many years, I sued Mr. Chirac and I arrived to the conclusion that you could never reach him.
