¡¡¡¡Lingerie: Often viewed as a gift for her, it really is a gift for him, said lingerie designer Mary Green. "Men seem to have very specific ideas about what they like on women," she said.

¡¡¡¡Functional: If a man is a sports fan, buy tickets for the two of you to go to a game, Kaiser said. Or if he enjoys cooking, buy him a gift for the kitchen.

¡¡¡¡Gimmicks: The best gift, relationship experts say, is not always store-bought. In many cases, a simple gesture can say "I love you."

¡¡¡¡Consider a romantic gesture, such as a foot rub or body massage, Brother said.

¡¡¡¡Say it with words: Brothers said buying a card on Valentine's Day is not the way to say "I love you." She said the giver should write a romantic note to include in the card. Better yet, she said, tell the man how much you adores him.
