Organic English for TOEFL^® iBT: Sample Speaking Task #5

口语第5题要求考生先听一段对话，之后给20秒的时间准备，然后提出60秒长度的口语答复。愿意自测的同学，可以仔细阅读底下说明后，进行自测。

Speaking Task #5

Task #5 is an integrated speaking task that a test taker performs after listening to a conversation. There is no reading passage in Task #5. The conversation itself lasts from 60 to 90 seconds and involves some sort of problem related to campus life. The exchange may be between a student and a professor, a student and a university staff person, or between two students.

After the conversation finishes, the test taker is asked to 1) briefly summarize the problem; 2) list the two suggested solutions and say which of the two is better; and 3) provide a rationale for that choice. You have 20 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds in which to give a response.

For example, you might be asked a question such as this:

Preparation time: 20 seconds

Response time: 60 seconds

Now practice Task #5. Remember to take good notes about what the problem is. To save time, you can even start jotting down ideas about which solution you prefer. In the 20 seconds you have to prepare, glance at your notes and think through your support.
